Alexander J. Urbelis is a lawyer and self-described hacker with more than 20 years’ experience with information security. Alex was information security counsel and later Chief Compliance Officer of one of the world’s largest luxury conglomerates. He has worked as a graduate fellow in the Office of General Counsel of the Central Intelligence Agency, the US Army JAG Corpos, as a law clerk to the Chief Judge of the US Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and as an associate in the New York and Washington offices of Steptoe & Johnson. He is currently a partner in the Blackstone Law Group and CEO of a separate information security consultancy.
Alex holds a BA, summa cum laude, in Philosophy from Stony Brook University, a JD, magna cum laude, from Vermont Law School, and the BCL from New College, Oxford University. Alex was the Technology Editor of the Vermont Law Review and an Editor of the Oxford University Commonwealth Law Journal.
