CEO | IonQ, Inc.
David has 15 years of experience in quantum information management and research. He joined IonQ from the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA), an organization responsible for leading high-risk, high-payoff research relevant to the US Intelligence Community. As a Senior National Intelligence Service Officer, David’s high-performance computing management portfolio included the world’s largest quantum computing research program, where he directly interacted with all of the major players in the quantum computing space. Prior to IARPA, David was as a Senior Member of Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories, leading a team that designed, fabricated, tested, and distributed silicon microfabricated atomic ion traps. Dave received his Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Physics from Purdue University and his PhD in Physics from the University of Michigan Rackham Graduate School where he pioneered the use of single photons to couple quantum information between distant trapped ions.
