Hugh-Michael Higgs is a retired Navy SEAL Command Master Chief and combat decorated veteran with 30 years in the SEAL Teams. As an SEAL Operator, Tactical and Command Staff Leader he deployed throughout operational theaters to include Europe, South America, the Pacific and the Middle East, spending the last 15 years of his career either deploying for combat operations or training teams to deploy in support of Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. During his 30-year tenure he spent three separate tours as a SEAL instructor to include BUD/S, Senior Enlisted Advisor/Program Manager for the Urban Combat training for all West Coast SEAL Teams and Senior Enlisted Advisor and Program Manager for the SEAL Qualification Course. His combat tours include Element, Platoon, Troop, Command and Task Force Leader for battles to include Fallujah, Mosul, Sadr City, Haditha, and finally in 2016 as Command Master Chief of a SEAL Team and of Special Operation Task Force – Iraq with the responsibility for advise, assist and accompany operations with a 1200 member Coalition Task Force in support of Iraqi Special Operations Forces during Iraqi Resolve. He retired from active duty in June of 2016 and is now the Civilian Deputy Director of Assaults Training for West Coast SEAL Teams as well as adjunct instructor for several Leader Development Programs.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Education and Curriculum Development from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale, is a Navy Master Training Specialist and a currently enrolled in the Masters of Global Leadership Program at University of San Diego.
